German speaking practice with an AI coach (Early Access)

German in WitSpeak is in Early Access: it works today and improves every week. You can hold open conversations in German with Mia or Alex, rehearse real situations like a doctor's appointment or a first day at work, and take beginner lessons with a pronunciation score. Every answer gets feedback explained in your own language, at levels from A1 to C1.

What Early Access means

Early Access means German is open to everyone in the app, but it is newer than English and Spanish. The lessons and conversations are still being refined every week. If something sounds off, tell us through support: that feedback decides what we fix next.

WitSpeak teaches the standard German of Germany. Austrian and Swiss varieties are not separate options.

What you can practice in German

  • Free Talk and Daily Talk: an open conversation in German with Mia or Alex about anything you like.
  • Roleplay: adult, real-life scenarios in German, from a doctor's appointment to a job interview.
  • Beginner course: short A1 lessons with a pronunciation score on what you say.
  • Feedback in your language: each correction is explained in your own language, including the grammar behind it.
  • Levels: separate conversation levels from A1 to C1 for German.

Where spoken German trips people up

Most learners know the rules of German word order on paper and still put the verb in the wrong place when they speak. The same goes for ü and ö: easy to read, hard to say. Out-loud practice with feedback is how both become automatic. Our guide to German word order and umlauts explains the rules and gives short drills.

What stays English-only

These WitSpeak modes are built only for English and do not run in German: IELTS-style speaking practice, Rapid Fire, Flow and audiobooks, shadowing videos, the phoneme coach and WitSpeak Kidz.

See every language WitSpeak teaches on the languages page. Spanish is fully available: Spanish speaking practice. French is in Early Access too: French speaking practice.
