What 1,655 English accent tests taught us

Tests from August 31, 2026 to October 25, 2026 · · Compiled by Fatih Can YILDIRIM, founder

In 1,655 English accent tests on witspeak.ai, WitAccent named a first-language group 323 times and held back 1,332 times (80.5%). When someone told us their first language before seeing the guess and WitAccent named a group, the two matched in 8 of 68 tests. These are counts of tests, not people: one person can take the test more than once.

When WitAccent named a group, which one?

Out of 323 named results. Named results cluster in the groups where the model has the most real, non-synthetic training speech.

How these numbers are made

  • Each row is one completed WitAccent test on witspeak.ai. We do not know how many different people took them, so we never present tests as people.
  • Any count below 5 is hidden, and no table ever hides exactly one cell, so a hidden value cannot be worked out by subtracting the others.
  • No recordings, IP addresses, countries or browser details are used for this page. Agreement uses only answers given before the guess was revealed.
  • Answers are self-reported and can be wrong; treat them as a rough signal, not ground truth.
